At the heart of Jump Off is equine welfare. This is a program which passionately supports the lifetime care of Thoroughbred horses.

Jump Off will showcase the versatility of thoroughbreds and their outstanding potential for positive 'life after racing' outcomes. The Jump Off series was created to promote equine welfare and the versatility of thoroughbreds. Not every horse can win a Melbourne Cup and Jump Off shows thoroughbred horses can have a second career in equestrian disciplines after they are retired from racing. These considerations have driven the careful selection of trainers, riders and sponsors taking part in the series.

Racing Victoria is a proud Major Partner of Jump Off. The thoroughbred is the centrepiece of the racing industry and whilst the majority of horses that race don’t make the history books, every one of them is entitled to lifetime care and good health.

Racing Victoria’s vision is a leader in world-leading equine welfare practices and proud to help build a culture in which the safety and welfare of the racehorse is paramount to all participants and owners. Fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in equine welfare throughout the industry is critical to the success of the sport.

Racing Victoria’s Off The Track program aims to facilitate the placement of retired thoroughbred racehorses into second careers through their network of Racing Victoria Acknowledged Retrainers across the state. Retrainers specialise in training retired racehorses for equestrian purposes.

If you’re interested in looking to retrain a recently retired racehorse or seeking an established thoroughbred equestrian, you can find a list of Acknowledged Retrainers here.
